Heavy snow has recently fallen in Seoul and its accumulation recorded 13.7 centimeters as of January 7th. The temperature soon fell to minus 16.5 degrees Celsius. Since many of the roads turned very icy and dangerous, the traffic slowed down to an average of 19 kilometers per hour by Thursday. Korean singer BoA has been investigated by the prosecutors for violating import drug regulations. On December 16, BoA was questioned by prosecutors for violating import drug regulations due to careless customs clearance by an employee at SM Entertainment’s overseas branch. The employee had sent shipped sleeping pills from Japan to Korea, not following the set clearance procedures. This resulted in BoA and the employee being questioned by prosecutors. Apparently, neither BoA nor the employee were aware of formal import procedures. The South Korean parliament has passed a bill that allows those who excel in popular culture and art to postpone their military service until the age of 30. All eligible South Korean males aged from 18 to 28 must serve in the Korean military. The law previously allowed exemptions for top performing athletes and classical musicians but not top K-pop artists.
