North Korea’s Low Life Expectancy

 

The latest “State of World Population 2020” report by the UN Population Fund shows that an average North Korean is expected to live 72 years, which puts the nation at 118th position in terms of life expectancy in the world. This is 11 years shorter than the life expectancy of South Korea.

South Korea is currently 9th among 198 countries with an average life expectancy of 83 years.

North Korea which has a population of 25.8 million – also has a low birth rate – with the average number of children per female estimated at 1.9 this year.
