Wheesung in Treatment Following Back-to-Back Etomidate Incidents

Korean singer Wheesung appears to be in dire straits following two incidents where he was found passed out after taking the anesthetic etomidate.

On March 31, 2020, Wheesung, 38, was found passed out in a bathroom in a building in Seoul’s Songpa District. Allegedly, a syringe and bottle of etomidate were found nearby. When he was found, he was taken to the police station and tested for illegal drugs. The test came back negative.

On April 2, Wheesung was found passed out again in a bathroom, this time in a hotel bathroom in Seoul’s Gwangjin district. Again, he was taken to the police and tested for illegal drugs; the results came back negative.

In both cases, Wheesung was released due to etomidate, which is also known as the “second Propofol,” not being classified as an illegal drug. However, it is supposed to be obtained via prescription. The police are investigating how Wheesung obtained the drug.

After the first incident, Wheesung told police, “I made the exchange with someone I met on the internet.”

CCTV footage obtained by MBN News shows Wheesung exiting a taxi and meeting with an unknown male outside of a building. In this footage, Wheesung is seen allegedly purchasing the etomidate from the anonymous male.

On April 3, Seoul’s Songpa Police Station announced the man in the CCTV footage was arrested in connection to providing Wheesung with the etomidate.

Following the second incident, Realshow Company, Wheesung’s agency, released a statement addressing how Wheesung has since been hospitalized.

This is Realslow Company.

First, we sincerely apologize for causing concern with bad news during such a chaotic time.

Wheesung has been going through a difficult time due to his father’s sudden passing, a series of deaths of people whom he had worked with, and difficult incidents that he became entangled in last year.

On the day he was discovered passed out in a public bathroom, Wheesung had left his home, cut off contact with his family as well, and was found in the bathroom. After that, he tested negative for illegal drugs in a police investigation and there was nothing else unusual, so he returned home.

However, after he returned home, he was having extreme thoughts and showing symptoms of depression and panic disorder, and so he was admitted to a related hospital. He is currently receiving psychiatric therapy, and he is also earnestly taking part in the police investigation.

He will continue to actively take part in the investigation, and it’s planned that after the investigation ends, he will also continue to receive treatment with his family.

Wheesung is very regretful and sorry that he is showing a poor image of himself, no matter the reason for it.

We sincerely apologize to everyone for causing concern.

The troubling news surrounding Wheesung comes a week after Korean media reported that he is being investigated for repeated illegal use of Propofol. According to Chosun Ilbo, the police were expected to release an arrest warrant.

In 2019, former Korean personality Amy, who has a history of drug use, indirectly named Wheesung as a person with whom she took Propofol and Zolpidem, prompting Wheesung’s activities to be canceled or postponed and both he and his company to respond to the allegations.

Previously, in 2013, Wheesung was investigated for Propofol usage during his military service. He was cleared of those charges.

Regardless of any investigation, hopefully Wheesung receives help following these most recent incidents.

Peace Through Music

When I was younger, I viewed the world as a huge place filled with diverse places and mysterious people. However, as I have gotten older I have come to realize what so many people do and that is that the world is far smaller than we would hope for it to be. Upon this revelation is always the trailing thought of “why can’t we seem to get along in a world so small?”. Wars and bickering have been going on since time began. Yet there must be a common ground in which people can come together in one accord and forget the differences that seem to dominate our cultures. To this I would say let the music play.

Music is a universal language that does not have to be determined by language, religion, race, or politics. Where it is true that every song tells a story, the messages found within music are universal. There have been several occasions where I have listened to music whose words are foreign to me because I loved the melody. Instrumentals need no words because the tone is set just with the instruments and artistry made by the player.

Today’s world will state that there is not a common ground that one has to be fully dedicated to the box of ideals and perceptions of the region in which he or she lives. We are encouraged to discourage change or a new way of thinking. Those whose opinions are given are quickly subjected to ridicule and social banishment. How then can there be any way to spread peace, if the world is so focused on keeping us diverse. There seems to be no muse for our voice. Yet, a voice can be made, a message can be heard. Since music is so universal in its scope why not embrace a message of love and peace? Think of how powerful a movement could be started if every language in every region started to proclaim peace within their music. The possibilities would be endless.

Think about your favorite song. What do the lyrics tell you? What does the melody say? Are we encouraging and uplifting each other with our talents, or are we tearing each other down. Peace through music focuses on inspiring musicians, listeners, and people in general to artistically and vocally sound a message of peace throughout the world. This is not a new concept. Artists have been intertwining the message of peace and getting along with one’s fellow man for years. However, the difference between intermingling and a bold stance is that classimogul is only concerned with spreading Peace through Music.

The goal of www.classimogul.com is to add a spark to the fuel, so that the idea of peace through music can take full bonfire life. Embracing all genres such as Christian, Classical, Kpop, Easy listening, Violinist, Rap, Italian, Spanish, and more, we hope that everyone can hear the message of peace regardless of their music listening preferences. Our music may be diversified but our message is the same. When we embrace the world and the cultures that live within it, we expand the door to our understanding, embrace and embellish our artistic uniqueness, and thrive. We may be different on the outside but our hearts remain the same. Give love and peace a try. Let the music play on.Peace Through music

Daniel Dae Kim Tests Positive for Coronavirus

COVID-19 (Coronavirus) has impacted the global community since the outbreak began in December 2019. The virus, too, does not discriminate as several celebrities and sports stars including Edris Elba, Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Sean Payton (New Orleans Saints coach), Prince Albert II, and Kevin Durant all tested positive for the virus. On March 19, 2020, Korean-American actor Daniel Dae Kim shared that he, too, tested positive for COVID-19.

“I guess it’s nice to be mentioned in the same breath as Tom Hanks and Idris Elba, two of my favorite actors,” he joked. “I guess I’m in some pretty good company.”

Hi everyone- yesterday I was diagnosed with COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. Looks like I’ll be ok, but I wanted share my journey with you in the hopes that you find it informative or helpful. Hope you all stay safe, calm, and above all, healthy.

A post shared by Daniel Dae Kim (@danieldaekim) on

In a 10-minute video posted on Instagram, Kim, 51, shared that he tested positive for the virus. He shared details regarding filming of the show New Amsterdam and how production was shut down due to the Coronavirus outbreak. He stated he flew back home to Hawaii to be with his family and that he felt asymptomatic on his flight home until it was time for the plane to land.

“I was asymptotic during all of this time, but as the flight was close to landing I started noticing some scratchiness in my throat, which is unlike how I usually get sick, so when I landed I called my family doctor,” Kim said.

Kim said he got tested at a drive-thru clinic in Hawaii.

In his message, Kim apologized to those he may have infected while he wasn’t showing symptoms.

“Though I had no way of knowing and I was trying to be as careful as I could, I feel terrible that I could have given this to anyone, let alone people that I value enough to spend time with,” Kim said, “and this of course includes the cast of New Amsterdam.”

During his message, Kim expressed how he wishes racist attacks against the Asian community would stop in light of the virus. The response comes in response to U.S President Donald Trump calling COVID-19 the “Chinese virus” or “China virus” and others insulting and attacking members of the Asian community and blaming them for the virus.

“Please stop the prejudice and senseless violence against Asian people,” he said.

Kim continued, “Yes, I’m Asian and, yes, I have coronavirus, but I did not get it from China. I got it in America in New York City. And despite what certain political leaders want to call it, I don’t consider the place where it is from as important as the people who are sick and dying… If I did, I would call this thing the ‘New York virus,’ but that would be silly, right?”

Kim said he hopes to get better soon and that he wants to help fight the illness even if it was just to share his own antibodies to science to develop a vaccine.

Kim is currently in quarantine at his home in Hawaii. His family has been tested for COVID-19 and have tested negative.

“I am absolutely stunned by the sad news,” Japanese Skating Federation president Nagashima Akihisa said. “I would like to offer my deepest appreciation to Chris Reed for his contribution to Japanese ice dancing over the years and extend condolences to his family.”

Reed, who represented Japan with his partner Kana Muramoto, died following a heart attack at his home in Detroit, Michigan where he and Muramoto trained prior to their partnership ending in 2018. Muramoto now skates with Takahashi Daisuke. Reed retired from competitive skating December 31, 2019.

Reed, who was born to an American father and Japanese mother, was a three-time Olympian. During the 2010 Vancouver and 2014 Sochi games, he skated with his sister Cathy Reed, who is now a coach and choreographer for Team Japan. She retired from competitive figure skating in 2015, which lead Chris to pairing with Muramoto, with whom he ice-danced during the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympic Games.

Following news of Reed’s passing, members of the figure skating community shared their condolences on social media.

Korean-American Comedian Johnny Yune dies in L.A at age 84

Even if you aren’t particularly well versed in Korean Show Biz, there are lots of Korean Americans whose names and faces you would recognize. There are comedic veterans like Margaret Cho, Ken Jeong with his versatile appearances. And actors like Nicole Bilderback, Justin Chon and John Cho with active careers.

But way back in the day in the 1970s to 80s, it was harder to find a Korean face on television. One of the few that made it was Johnny Yune, who passed away on 8th March this year.

Best known to the American audience for his “big break” on the talk show run by none other than Johnny Carson, the King of Late Night Television, Johnny Yune was born in Eumseong, North Chungcheong Province in 1936.

Yune graduated from Sungdong High School before being granted a Navy scholarship at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio where he studied vocal music.

His Korean first name was Jong-seung, and was Anglicized to ‘John’ from its phonetic similarity when he became a US citizen in 1978.

Yune made his film debut in 1979’s Meteor under the stage name of Jon Yune, rose to stardom appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson 34 times from the late 70s to 80s – one of the most frequent number of appearances by a stand-up comedian. Yune stated that because actor Charlton Heston did not arrive on time, he was given over twenty minutes on the show to make a good impression.

He played the lead in the 1980s films They Call Me Bruce?, They Still Call Me Bruce, Nothing in Common, and Gidget’s Summer Reunion,

Yune later hosted KBS2’s The Johnny Yune Show, the first American-style talk show on Korean television, from 1989-1990. With the show’s success, similar talk shows became common in the Korean small-screen scene. The show was a great hit, but only after a year, Yune decided to leave KBS due to limited freedom of the media.

Yune married a Korean-American named Julia Yune in 1999 and later divorced in 2010.

Yune recovered his Korean citizenship; becoming a dual citizen in 2013. The following year, he was appointed auditor of the Korea Tourism Organization, though he was mired in controversy as to his qualification. He served the role for two years. Before the end of his term, he collapsed from a brain hemorrhage in 2016 and returned to the US for treatment.

Yune spent his later years at a care center in Los Angeles. He suffered from Alzheimer’s disease. He was admitted to Alhambra Hospital Medical Center near Los Angeles on Wednesday, but was unable to recover.

In honor of the deceased’s wishes, Yune’s body will be donated to science and research at the University of California-Irvine Medical Center.

“Not Guilty”- Wonho Investigation Wraps Up

A few months after allegations surfaced that former Monsta X member Wonho committed theft and smoked marijuana, the investigation into the K-Pop concluded with the police finding him not guilty of the charges. Starship Entertainment released a statement confirming the news.

Hello, this is Starship Entertainment.

Back on March 10, the illegal drug crime division of the Seoul Central District Police office concluded all illegal drug investigations involving former MONSTA X member Wonho, acquitting him.

Back in late October of last year, Wonho was accused of having abused the illegal drug marijuana, and the Seoul Central District Police promptly launched an investigation regarding these accusations. Wonho participated actively and diligently throughout the investigations which followed including the necessary substance examinations. In the past 5 months, the police were unable to discover any evidence to find Wonho guilty, and as a result the investigation came to a conclusion as of March 10.

Outside of the above facts, Wonho and Starship as an agency would like to once again apologize to the fans for causing great concerns. We also relay our sincerest thanks to fans both in Korea and abroad, who sent their support while patiently waiting for the investigation results.

During the investigation period, we advised that Wonho keep his public appearances to a minimum and aided Wonho so that he would not be wrongfully accused by pairing him with a legal representative, also waiting for the final police results throughout this time. Now, we promise to support Wonho to the fullest so that he can continue to walk the path he would like to go. Thank you.

Following the news, Wonho spoke to Dispatch.

“I still can’t forget our fans. I am full of regret,” Wonho said. “Just feeling like I should have done better for them? I just wanted to say I’m sorry, which is why I did this interview.”

“I did not smoke marijuana,” he added. “The investigation is underway. When my innocence is proven, please tell my story. I want to apologize, and I want to clear misunderstandings. I want to ask for forgiveness.”

During the interview, Wonho discussed his impoverished upbringing and the issues he faced in his youth and falling into the wrong crowd.

“I don’t want to blame them,” Wonho said. “Because it was my choice. It may sound like an excuse, but I was immature. It was my fault. I was in the wrong. I’m sorry.”

He also discussed meeting Jung Dae-Eun and mentioned how she helped him realize his dreams.

“We became close friends quickly. We worked as fitting models together. She helped me a lot, and she supported me a lot in my dreams to become a singer.”

Wonho admitted that he had failings growing up, but smoking marijuana was not one of them.

“I was at fault, but there were also misunderstandings,” Wonho said regarding the allegations against him. “Of course, I realize we can’t turn back time. Not everyone who grows up in an environment like mine ends up on the wrong path. When I was on probation, I did a lot of self-reflection.”

Now that’s he’s clear of the charges, it’s unclear what Wonho’s plans are currently. Starship’s vague statement doesn’t make it clear if Wonho will re-sign with the agency or return to Monsta X.

Busters Add Two New Members Ahead of Comeback

K-Pop rookie girl group Busters, the group behind the catchy tracks “Grapes” and “Pinky Promise,” will introduce two new members ahead of their Paeonia comeback!

The new members, Takara and Jeon Min-Ji, hail from Japan and South Korea, respectively. Takara was recruited for the group in 2019 via an audition. Min-Ji was a child actress and a dancer.

Takara and Min-Ji will be filling up a spot left vacant by Cha Minjung. Another member, Kim Min-Ji also departed the group and was replaced by Yeseo; both girls, Cha and Kim, left the group in 2019.

Kim Min-Ji’s departure from the group was tumultuous. According to Marbling Entertainment, Busters’ agency, Kim’s family was allegedly not happy with the group’s promotions and how roles were distributed in the team. According to the company, Kim’s family asked for her removal from the group.

“We have worked hard to accomplish our artists’ individual activities, and we have provided roles and tasks that suit each of the members’ personalities. Minji partook in a Fashion Week event, and we were busy with trying to get her a minor role in a television show, but it appears that these have not pleased their demands,” the company said at the time.

Busters Add Two New Members Ahead of Comeback 2

Meanwhile, Cha Minjung announced her departure from the group via a goodbye video posted on the group’s YouTube page.

“I broke up with Busters today,” Minjung said. “I was happy all the time, thank you. I will never forget the time I had with you.”

We hope Busters’ next comeback will be successful! Welcome to the team, Takara and Min-Ji!

Plus Size Asian Fashion Trends in 2020

Asian fashion is becoming more popular each day! With lots of Japanese, Korean and Chinese designs seen in streetstyle all over the world it’s no wonder that they are influencing global fashion trends. Another really interesting aspect of Asian fashion that’s making waves is plus size Asian fashion. More brands are catering to the plus size market with fun Asian styles.

Here are 5 main plus size Asian fashion trends that are taking over 2020. For lovers of Korean, Japanese and Chinese fashion, these trends will be beyond adorable. It’s no surprise that Asian plus size trends are so cute and fun. China has the highest number of plus size women in the world! These trends are mostly very easy to follow with a few tips here and there.

Oversized clothing

Asian fashion plays around with loose and playful fits all the time and this particular trend is absolutely fabulous for plus size women. Most of the time this trend works best with outerwear from sweaters, to blazers to outer shirts. Oversized blazers are a very popular part of Korean fashion especially. The trick here is to pair the oversized item of clothing with fitted clothes. A nice fitted t-shirt with fitted jeans and a big blazer or outer shirt will nail this look right on the head. Don’t be afraid to be playful and have fun with it.

Asian fashion is everything but boring! So many western fashion rules don’t permit plus size women to wear oversized clothes but Asian fashion breaks these rules in the most chic of ways. A lot of Asian fashion borders on breaking fashion stereotypes and rules so it’s time to unlearn some rules and ideas.

Mix and match

Asian plus size fashion is embracing mixing clothing styles like it’s no ones business and the interesting thing is that it actually looks fabulous! The mix and match trend has been really popular in street fashion last year and this year and is a trend that doesn’t seem to want to go away!

This trend is a lot more tricky than most. Think of various clothes that are unusual but still fun together. Asians have a way of making denim shorts, patterned tights, and a crop top look cool. This trend may not be for everyone but if you can pull it off the compliments are sure to abound. Learning how to follow this trend from popular Korean pop stars is a clever way to do it. Japanese singers also have this trend on lock down this year.

Plum and peach colors

Black and white may have been the trendiest colors for Asian fashion some years ago but not in 2020. This year we are seeing more girly and flirty plum and peach tones. These colors are absolutely amazing and soft with the right amount of a feminine touch. From hair color to clothing these colors are becoming very popular.

One way to keep this trend fresh is to match it with other clothing of complementary colors. It is true that most Asian fashion trends are bold and obvious statement makers but it’s always important to add elements of your own personality when you follow these trends. Plum or peach colors of your favorite items of clothing will work just perfectly. To play it safe wear plum or peach in monochrome. You certainly can’t go wrong with this.

Athleisure

This trend is one of the most comfortable of all plus size Asian fashion trends. This trend is mostly about wearing sporty clothes in everyday life. This trend is functional, comfortable and fun all together. From cozy sweaters to tracksuits to sweatpants this trend has even made it in global fashion trends with a lot of designer brands featuring it in their collections.

Plus size trends that stay away from discomfort is definitely something cool. Fashion doesn’t have to be painful after all. To keep this trend fresh it’s a good idea to play with fun colors and patterns. This trend is pretty global now so finding beautiful Athleisure pieces to wear should not be a problem at all!

Accessories

Asians love their accessories! The accessories trend for plus size Asian fashion is definitely here to stay. With lots of colorful bags and shoes it’s easy to get that cool Asian fashion look. Jewelry is certainly not left out and with this trend more is more! Layering jewelry is a cool statement to make with this trend.

Colorful costume jewelry is a big hit especially neon colors. One very good thing about Asian fashion trends is that they don’t require lots of money to follow. Inexpensive costume jewelry can complete an outfit with very little effort.

So these are 2020’s hottest plus size Asian fashion trends. With a very wide variety there is certainly a trend or two that will appeal to everyone. Remember to keep the styling fun and playful and most importantly don’t forget to add elements of your own personality.
