At the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) this past Sunday, BTS won Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year and Worldwide Icon of the Year. The group also picked up awards for Best Male Group, Best Music Video and Best Dance Performance.
Fans could not attend the ceremony, instead, screens showing the audience watching from all around the world were televised.
Bang Si-hyuk, the founder and CEO of Big Hit Entertainment, won Best Executive Producer of the Year.
“Eight,” performed by IU and BTS member Suga won Best Collaboration.
BLACKPINK won Best Female Group and Best Dance Performance, while IU took home Best Female Artist and Best Vocal Performance – Solo.
Mamamoo won Best Vocal Performance – Group, Hwasa was awrded Best Dance Performance – Solo, Baekhyun won Best Male Artist.
Treasure and Weekly got selected the best new male artist and female artist.
The Worldwide Fans’ Awards were given to the 10 most popular acts via voting and music video views. TWICE, Treasure, BTS, Tomorrow X Together, GOT7, ATEEZ, Seventeen, Mamamoo, NCT, and BLACKPINK all took home the prize.
BoA received a 20-year contribution to the K-pop industry prize, and performed her old hits like “No. 1” and “Only One” at the show.
At this year’s MAMA ceremony, most artists who made acceptance speeches wore masks, and staffs disinfected the stage after each performance.
