Hwang Yunseong, a member of the rising K-pop boy group DRIPPIN, is preparing to fulfill his mandatory military service. Woollim Entertainment also confirmed the news, marking an important milestone in his career as he temporarily steps away from the entertainment scene.
On March 5, Woollim Entertainment announced that Hwang Yunseong, DRIPPIN band’s leader, would be enlisting to complete South Korea’s mandatory military service requirements. The agency shared a heartfelt message, expressing support for the idol as he embarks on this new chapter. On March 19, Hwang Yunseong personally addressed fans through a heartfelt handwritten letter, expressing his feelings about the enlistment and assuring supporters of his commitment to return safely. Hwang Yunseong is the first member of DRIPPIN to enlist in the military.
Hwang Yunseong first gained attention as a contestant on Mnet’s survival show “Produce X 101”, where he showcased his impressive dance and vocal skills. Following the program, he debuted as the leader of DRIPPIN under Woollim Entertainment in October 2020. As part of DRIPPIN, Yunseong contributed to hits like “Nostalgia,” “Free Pass,” and “Seven Sins,” helping the group establish a dedicated fanbase.
Woollim Entertainment reassured fans that DRIPPIN will continue its activities despite Yunseong’s temporary absence. The group is expected to pursue unit promotions and individual projects while awaiting his return.
