A South Korean girl group called Illit (/ˈaɪlət/; Korean: 아일릿; RR: aillit; stylized in all capitals) was founded by Belift Lab, a Hybe subsidiary, through the JTBC 2023 survival competition show R U Next?. There are five people in the group: Yunah, Minju, Moka, Wonhee, and Iroha. They made their premiere with the extended play (EP) Super Real Me on March 25, 2024.
Previously, during the live broadcast of R U Next’s last episode, the name I’ll-It was introduced. The term “represents choosing your own verb to put between I’ll and It,” as was mentioned in the episode, implying the members’ capacity for autonomous action and decision-making.
R U Next?, the JTBC series aired ten episodes between June 30, 2023, and September 1, 2023. 22 contestants competed to form Belift Lab’s first girl group, which would be the third to debut under Hybe after Le Sserafim and NewJeans. The group’s six members were chosen in the final episode; two were chosen by the audience, and the remaining four were chosen by the company’s producers. At the conclusion of the show, the final lineup—Wonhee, Youngseo, Minju, Iroha, Moka, and Yunah—was revealed. Belift Lab declared on January 5, 2024, that Youngseo was departing the group.
