Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, Christian Yu spent his childhood surrounded by art, dance, filmmaking, and music. From recording homemade videos to experimenting with choreography, he unknowingly built the foundations for the artistic world he would one day command. His multicultural upbringing later shaped the hybrid identity seen in his workāWestern alt influences blended with Korean aesthetics and emotional mythology.

Before becoming DPR IAN, Yu debuted in 2012 as Rome, the leader of the K-pop group C-Clown.
Though successful, idol life restricted his creative direction. After the group’s disbandment, he walked a bold new pathāshifting to directing, filming, and editing. This transition became the turning point that revealed his true artistic identity.
