China’s government, under the rule of China’s president Xi Jinping, is known to ban and restrict a lot of things. Their latest plan is to take measures on the pop culture industry, particularly on popular celebrities and their many fandoms. The recent crackdown is to restrict “chaotic” fandom culture and discourage fundraising activities.

China’s main social media platform Weibo also recently banned BTS’ Chinese fan site Park Jimin Bar for crowdfunding to customize an airplane in celebration of Kpop band BTS’ Jimin’s birthday. The platform is restricting the fan club to post for 60 days.

Weibo stated:

“Since Cyberspace Administration of China announced “Additional Measures To Clean Up Fandom Chaos,” Weibo has been doing related clean-up as requested, posting announcements to advocate supporting celebrities within reason and to maintain order within this community. Netizens reported to us that, in April, an account started a crowdfunding event for a “customized airplane” on other platforms, which violated the rules. They posted the results of the event on Weibo. The contents of the post included elements of inducing and comparing, which is a serious issue. We immediately banned the account Jimin Bar from posting for 60 days and deleted the related posts. Weibo is strictly against the irrational support of celebrities, and is ready to take serious actions. Weibo remains committed to fulfill our social and corporate responsibilities, and has strengthened our governance over fandoms in order to clean up their online conduct. Our entire platform is using the same standards while governing and setting the rules, without a single difference. Once an act of supporting a celebrity is determined to be irrational, we will deal with it seriously. We will continue to make periodic announcements on actions taken. We all need to work hard together in order to clean up the fandoms; our users are welcomed to give us tips and feedback regarding this matter.”

Many other “excessive” projects planned by Chinese fan sites will now be monitored and could be restricted or banned since “irrational fan worship” is now regarded as a dangerous threat to China’s ideology.

The Chinese media regulators also recently condemned the “worshipping” of celebrities following the arrest of Chinese-Canadian entertainer Kris Wu.

China’s authorities have revealed plans to blacklist celebrities with foreign citizenship working in broadcasting stations and the media in China. Actors Jet Li and Liu Yifei, who have citizenships outside of China, are among the celebs rumoured to be on the blacklist.

Chinese authorities also announced that it will establish a “correct” standard for beauty and called for a boycott of “sissy” male idols who wear cosmetics and do not conform to the Chinese macho stereotypes – stating the image is a “threat to society” and that there needs to be a stronger promotion of “traditional Chinese culture, revolution culture, socialist culture.”

Strong measures were immediately undertaken, and many of China’s reality talent shows that were massively popular nationwide, got banned this past Thursday.

The latest measures are towards the youth – the government wants to set the standard to restrict video games that are not considered ethical for young people in China, under the age of 18. Teens will now be forbidden to play online games from Monday to Thursday, and only allowed to spend one hour per day on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and holidays. This is the country’s latest effort to tackle the rise of “spiritual opium” – gaming addiction that has been an issue for the youth for quite some time.

Their new regulations require all online games to be linked to a state anti-addiction system, and gaming companies will be prohibited from providing services without identification registrations.

Chinese authorities claim the recent surge of the country’s restrictions and newly implemented laws are to protect the mental health of the youth in China.

To keep up with the fast-changing world, the marketing segmentation and targeting methods are rapidly shifting away from old, static, demographic-based parameters towards dynamic, lifestyle, mood, and psychographic influences. Fashion forecasting is the art of predicting a consumer’s mood, behavior, and buying habits. It’s no longer enough to know who your clients are, based on their age, location, or purchasing power; you also need to know how and why they buy depending on their beliefs, mood, and the occasion.

The fashion industry is constantly changing, and it is difficult to forecast future trends. However, professionals in the industry, such as manufacturers and fashion designers, work hard to keep up with the latest fashion trends so that their forthcoming fashion collections can rock and create a stir.

Fashion Trend Forecasting and How It Is Helpful

Predicting fashion trends can be complicated because there are so many distinct categories of fashion for different people worldwide. Some of the most popular fashion categories are:

Fashion styles also change with the seasons, which is why the words “Summer Collection” and “Winter Collection” have evolved. As a result, it is critical to examine trend-spotters to determine what is popular and to design items accordingly.

Trend forecasting fashion is an excellent and helpful strategy to get rid of complications. Professional forecasters that perform market research and evaluate the purchase patterns of diverse clients employ this technique. Therefore, this study is carried out to get an idea of what will be popular in the future.

When the forecasting technique was first developed, forecasters did not have access to many resources for doing their research. As such, the only reliable sources for predicting trends were fashion weeks or shows and the purchasing patterns of fashion lovers. However, as technology advances, in-depth market research can be conducted, taking into account a variety of factors that influence fashion trends. Thus, when compared to traditional methods, meaningful outcomes can be obtained.

Because celebrities and social media have a strong influence on today’s fashion trends, the demand for fashion forecasting keeps increasing. Customers do not spend much time choosing the appropriate kind of fashion, and their preferences are mainly based on celebrity fashion trends. Women’s clothing trends are the most influential category here, and they change rapidly, making it a little challenging to predict a new trend. As a result, the fashion industry is subjected to rapid changes, making trend forecasting even more difficult.

We’ve put together the latest Asian fashion trends for you.

Get Familiar with The Latest Asian Fashion Trends

Asian fashion is a world of its own. It has increasingly gained recognition globally for its fashion trends and style. The trends, styles, and preferences here cannot be compared to trends in other parts of the world. Fashion in Asia is all about minimalism, clean-cut silhouettes, and the utilization of fashion as a primary form of expression.
The top 4 fashion trends for 2021 include;

1. Vibrant Bohemian Style

When it comes to Asian fashionable clothing, nothing reflects rich and vibrant, like the bohemian style. The sleek and sophisticated bohemian style is one of the biggest trends this year, particularly for a hip look that is up to standard. The chill and stylish bohemian dressing is the best way to express your true self. It’s ideal for outdoor occasions such as carnivals and festivals and allows you to enjoy the moment in the most comfortable way possible.

2. Leather All Over

We’re sure you’ve heard of this trend recently, and it had such a positive and open response from the public that it has stayed in this year’s trends as well, particularly in Southeast Asia. People are going for a full-length leather dress to dazzle everyone with this daring move. So, if a powerful and badass look is what you are looking for, then “all leather” is the perfect option for you.

3. Puffed Sleeves

Another top fashion trend that is just as versatile and that we’ve seen a lot lately is the puffed sleeves. We see it on almost every dress; shirts, gowns, and jacket. They add an extra flair to an otherwise basic outfit and are available in a variety of shapes, sizes, and materials. They’re also simple to style because all you need besides it is a miniskirt or a pair of basic denim jeans. As fashion progresses, so do styles, and puffed sleeves are now making waves.

Screen Shot 2021 09 01 At 4.50.39 PM

4. Pencil Skirt

Of course, we can’t talk of Asian fashion trends without a section dedicated to toned-down, formal outfit ideas. Our take on this section turns out to be a sophisticated and stylish pencil skirt. When it comes to selecting an outfit that is both fashionable and modest, pencil skirts will be the best option. People are wearing this traditional piece in new and inventive ways, styling it according to their preferences, coming up with incredible formal wear ideas.

Bottom Line

Now that you know what’s trending this season, it is important to know that sustainable fashion trends of the future are greatly influenced by the events of today, which are difficult to forecast. However, as we look towards 2022, we believe that customers’ attitudes will keep encouraging the fashion industry to embrace sustainability at all levels.

Screen Shot 2021 08 30 At 11.49.39 AM

Each of the drama’s episodes highlights Hong Ji-Ah and Oh In-Beom restlessly handling spirits lingering around the specific place of their unfortunate death. The ghosts appear at different zones; including saunas, art galleries and homes, and each comes with its own background tasking the two main characters the role of figuring out their reason for lurking around. The dreadful, extremely risky and mysterious adventure throughout the episodes creates an emotional tension and unfathomable curiosity at the end of each episode keeping the viewers craving to know more.

Screen Shot 2021 08 30 At 11.49.46 AM

At some point into the final episodes, the drama focuses on Hong Ji-Ah’s dark exorcism-related past, which bizarrely involves secretary Ju (Kang Mal-Geum) and Oh In-Beom. The fatefully unfolding reality of the three primary casts seemingly worsens as they clash with the beauteous villain, Do Hak-Sung (Ahn Gil-Kang), who heads Dohak Construction. The relentless struggle creates a platform for the cast to confront the repulsive demons which shakes their being to the core, especially the reproachful guilt owing to their past; including those unfairly due to those before them. The strenuous endeavor to free the lingering spirit of Hong Ji-Ah’s mother is a major case that culminates in an intensively tearful scene.

Conclusively, this exorcism-themed exhilarating and emotional drama thrillingly unveils and connects the concealed dark pasts with the present. The revelation progression elucidates the resilient will of the main casts to overcome personal strains while helping both the living and the dead. It is an evidence that although fate is almost inevitable, zeal and steadfast reactions creates a world of possibilities.

On August 26, former iKON member B.I’s first hearing regarding violation of the Act on the Control of Narcotics took place at Seoul Central District Court. He had been indicted in May for suspicions of purchasing and using marijuana and lysergic acid diethylamide back in 2016.

At the hearing, the prosecution stated that B.I used marijuana three times in March 2016 and April 2016, and he also purchased LSD around that time.

B.I’s representative made a statement that, “B.I admits to his mistakes and is deeply reflecting on himself and the fact that he caused a great disturbance as a public figure. B.I was only 19-years old during the crime. He made a mistake out of curiosity. B.I is a first-time defendant with no criminal or civil record, and he has carried out community service as well as nonprofit donations continuously since his debut. The album he recently released is also part of a project to donate all proceeds.”

B.I was also given a chance to speak, “I made a completely foolish mistake in the past. I was young and naive, but even so, I was foolish for what I did. I hurt my family. For a time, I thought that I no longer wanted to live. But through these recent events, I took the time to look around me and reflect on my past. I will never repeat a foolish mistake like this again. I will continue to reflect on myself. I want to protect those I cherish.”

B.I’s father also attended the hearing and pleaded in tears saying, “I should have educated my child better. It was my fault. I blame myself for showing off my child’s accomplishments with a big head. Please show my foolish son mercy.”

B.I pleaded guilty to all charges Friday. The prosecution requested a sentence of three years imprisonment with a fine of 1.5 million won (approximately $1,300). The final sentence will be determined at the trial which is scheduled for September 10th.

Under Korean law, Koreans are prohibited from using drugs, even when they are in a country where the use of drugs is legal or tolerated. Smoking a joint abroad can be punished with a prison sentence of up to five years.

The CEO of Re:Cielo revealed in a recent interview that K-pop star and actor Park Yoo-chun gambled in Macau and the Philippines numerous times from 2017 to 2019, and said, “Park Yu-chun gambled in Macau, but after losing large sums of money, he tried to win the lost money back in the Philippines. I have evidence of his illegal gambling and there are witnesses to back my claims, and I will submit it to be investigated by the authorities.”

After Park Yoo-chun parted ways from C-JeS Entertainment in 2020 due to his legal issues, the singer signed to Re: Cielo founded by his former manager, who used to be his manager since Park’s infamous departure from the K-pop group TVXQ. Due to credit issues, Park was unable to register a company under his name but instead, put his own mother as the biggest shareholder.

Although Park had revealed his plans to retire to the public, he has had fan meetings abroad and opened up a social media account to resume his activities abroad, which caused a lot of backlash from the netizens.

The CEO recently came out to make claims that he has sued Park Yu-chun since he violated contract terms by signing a contract with a certain Japanese entertainment agency and for defamation.

Park also allegedly spent approximately $2 million on his girlfriend, adult entertainment and gaming – using the company’s credit card.
The CEO of Re:Cielo said his company paid off Park’s debt of around $1.7 million even though he wasn’t bringing any income to the company.

Park, on the other hand, claimed that he was never paid for two years he worked with them. He has since posted on his Japanese fan site saying,

Hello. This is Yoochun.

I’ve started to amend my ways and I’m doing my utmost to prepare for the future. I knew that the slanderous reports, which aren’t true and have no grounds, have been bothering everyone who believes in me, and if this is something I need to do to move on to the future. It’s something I should do confidently without avoiding it no matter how unfair or unjust it is.

A few months ago, I learned a shocking truth about the CEO of Re:Cielo and I tried to listen to an explanation about this, but I couldn’t contact him and eventually decided to carry out civil and criminal legal proceedings. The other party didn’t even explain and instead mobilized a few reporters to raise criminal charges such as fraud and embezzlement against me, and they’re responding by wiring all kinds of slanderous reports and information that aren’t true, but none of the criminal charges raised by the other party are true at all.

The claim made by a YouTuber on August 22, 2021 that I contacted a fan and sexually harassed her is not true at all, and this is just slander. This is a deliberate personal attack, I’ll be preparing to make a legal response. I’ve submitted to the law firm all of the evidence material that proves the wrongful civil and criminal cases on Re:Cielo’s CEO, and that includes evidence material that can set right the false suspicion the other party raised against me.

Since those cases all pertain to a serious crime, I will not reveal them so that the investigative agencies can investigate properly and take action. I believe that the injustice I experienced due to the other party and the false slander against me will all be revealed soon. All the future processes will take time, but I’ll transparently share everything for all the fans who support me. I thank you for not giving up and believing in me until the end.

August 24, 2021.

From Yoochun.

This is not the first time that Park Yu-chun got himself embroiled in messy legal troubles and controversies. He vowed to retire after he was sentenced to 10 months in prison and two years of probation for illegal drug use, but hasn’t been able to keep himself out of the headlines as of late. Since the case is on-going, we will see how this plays out.

Boy group VERIVERY is back and they’re coming in with a bang, pulling the trigger for the reveal of their EP ‘SERIES ‘O’ [ROUND 2: HOLE]’. At 6PM KST on Monday, August 23rd, the performance idols started their full-fledged activities for this comeback with the start of sales and release of their music video for the title track ‘TRIGGER’.

It’s been five months since their last comeback and the seven members are holding nothing back. With the return of Minchan, the storyline continues in their new music video release with ominous tones and mysterious new yet very familiar characters.

As a group, they’ve taken on a new meaning to the Horror genre with some thriller elements that give Hollywood a run for its money. From the video clips released before the music video, the members teased with eerie settings and gloomy atmospheres lit up by the tiniest hint of creepy smiles that linger for a brief moment before the video refocuses on the cool dark looks of the
members.

The music video maximizes all the chic and dreamy charms of the members with a breathtaking tension found in the twisted dual role confrontations that leave you questioning which side is reality. It feeds off the fascination of horror and the slightly unhinged mixed in with K-pop elements that put performance and storytelling together for a mesmerizing 3 minutes and 23 seconds.

Music Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71gOeMzNEBQ

Along with the cinematic experience in the music video, VERIVERY takes it a step further with an almost striking evolution from young boy-ish looks to a more manly appearance that takes charge with charismatic and intense movements as well as bold fashion.

Their transformations follow with their sophisticated choreography that leaves you out of breath with every step. From complex transitions to expressive movements that tell a story in itself, the group doesn’t fail to remind you of why they garnered so much attention for their knife-like choreography in ‘Road to Kingdom’.

Each comeback gives way to an even grander setting for the group, not only in their backgrounds that resemble the Colosseum, but in their impressive acting skills that contribute to the storytelling of their music videos and their performances.

For their showcase, the members performed their new song, ‘TRIGGER’ and although GYEHYEON could not participate in the choreography due to an injury, the energy from every single member made it apparent that this will be another hit to follow after their last song, ‘Get Away’.

VERIVERY’s sixth mini album ‘SERIES ‘O’ [ROUND 2 : HOLE]’ was released on August 23rd. Fans can look forward to the continuing storyline in their message surrounding the topic of the ‘O’ series, taking on the various symbolic meanings that it can have. Though a rare term among a substantial number of fans of various music genres, the vocaloid culture was started back in the 1980’s and has been in business alongside natural singing since then; although with miniature popularity. The singing synthesizing technology that enables full-fledged songs to be recorded by inputting melody and lyrics into a program. The resulting model presents enhanced vocals that challenge normal singing to the core. Although the culture has had its share of criticisms, just as any other new phenomenon, its appreciation has overtime increased with perspectives developing from the vocaloids “humanizing new technology’s coldness” to “appealing human nostalgia and sentiments making technology surprisingly endearing while promoting creative expression avenues”.

Screen Shot 2021 08 19 At 2.37.56 PM

Vocaloids were invented in Japan in 2000 by a collaboration of Japan’s Yamaha Corporation and Pompeu Fabra University. The complex culture quickly gained fame owing to the created virtual idols dealing with music, video games and Anime characters. Consequentially, the vocaloids fashioned the Japan wave taking the better part of its entertainment’s eminence spot with Hatsune Miku; a pioneer project, being the country’s most popular vocaloid. Hatsune; a global phenomenon, is a mascot that anthropomorphizes the vocaloid technology to give it a human appearance thus facilitating its personal connections to the vocaloid program. At her concerts, Hatsune’s holographic singing and dancing image is projected across the stage and sometimes accompanied by a live band to overpower her virtual being making her more real.

Screen Shot 2021 08 19 At 2.38.25 PM

In Korea, the use of vocaloids are not as popular and predominant as in its neighboring Asian country Japan. Korea has however, adopted the technology and has further improvised it ensuring that the synthesized human singing voices are of high quality and diverse ranges including in tone and timbre facets. Some of the most celebrated Korean vocaloids include SeeU and UNI, who have even been featured in cover songs of popular K-Pop artists’ songs. Recently, the four female LOL characters virtual K-Pop group K/DA was debuted at the 2018 League of Legends World Champion. With the individual characters stemming from prominent girls groups, such as (G)-Idle’s Soyeon, the virtual K-pop group has released hit tracks including “Pop/stars” which charted at number one on iTunes K-pop chart and World Digital Song Sales Billboard chart. The virtual group has joined the league of iconic K-Pop groups, including BTS and Blackpink, known for producing hit songs that always top the charts. Just as Japan and other vocaloid manufacturing countries, Korea has updated the singing synthesizer technology to consider detailed vocal articulation and nuances, multiplicity of languages, techniques applied in actual singing among others.

Screen Shot 2021 08 19 At 2.38.40 PM

The software gives users the power to fashion vocaloid tracks using laptops and manipulate virtual idols into performing songs according to their preferred styles with personal touches. The availability of a wide distribution infrastructure; including online social spaces, has further promoted vocaloid popularity by enabling even amateur music producers to showcase their creativity and share their skills with fans. The rapidly increasing global popularity of vocaloids, especially with the progression in technology, signifies the singing synthesizer’s intensifying crucial role in the entertainment industry.

K-pop girl group (G)I-dle member Soo-jin announced to leave the group on Saturday over numerous allegations that she bullied classmates when she was in middle school. Several people have come up to accuse the 25-year-old K-pop girl grouper of bullying her schoolmates – both physically and verbally when they attended the same middle school,

Cube Entertainment, Seo Soo-jin and (G)I-dle’s management company, have previously denied all bullying allegations and filed a lawsuit against the accusers, since the allegations first emerged in February. Since March, the K-pop singer has kept a low profile.

One of her accusers is Korean actress Seo Shin-ae, who was featured in various TV and movies including “High Kick Through the Roof,” “Incarnation of Money,” “The Queen’s Classroom” and others. She claimed that she was bullied by Soo-jin for two years, while the singer denied by saying that she has never even spoken a word to her.

Cube Entertainment announced over the weekend that the girl group would continue as a five-member act after the departure of Soo-jin by stating, “Our agency decided that Soojin will leave the team as of today. (G)I-DLE will continue its activities with the remaining five members.”

After this announcement, hashtags like “(G)I-dle is six” trended on social media by infuriated fans in support of their idol.

Some extreme fans of the singer even went as far as to bombard Seo Shin-ae’s YouTube account with negative comments, threats and blamed the actress for Soo-jin’s departure and for ruining her career/dream.

Others commenters who felt that Soo-jin’s departure from the group was justified, responded to the K-pop star’s supporters and sent Shin-ae supportive messages and words of encouragement.

The recent rise of “school bullying accusations” in the Korean entertainment scene has become a controversial topic, mostly because there are not many ways to prove who is telling the truth.

Some raise the question whether it is really ethical to make someone pay for the acts they committed years, at times, decades prior – while some say that the bullies should receive punishment since the victims go through trauma that affects them for years, if not for life.

Soo-jin’s accusers claimed that because they were severely traumatised, it deeply affected their admission to high school and later on in life.

(G)I-dle, who made their debut in 2018 with the single “Latata” from their first extended play “I Am”, consists of five members: Miyeon, Minnie, Soyeon, Yuqi, and Shuhua.
