TWICE is no stranger to big pop hits and this album has plenty. Some songs give a vintage 80s vibe, and others stay true to the modern TWICE sound. Letâs dive into the best and worst.
SCIENTIST: 7/10
âSCIENTISTâ is a soft opening to this album and provides a smooth introduction. With a steady beat, classic TWICE vibes, and a catchy tune, this is bound to get stuck in my head. I love the simple chorus line: âLove ain’t a science, donât need no license.â This song reminds me of a track that would end up on a fun K-dramaâs OST.
MOONLIGHT: 6/10
This songâs instrumental gives off island vibes. There is a strong beat in this song as well, and almost an 80s feel. The all-English song is a fun track. âWinter can melt inside your handsâ is probably my favorite line, which is in the second verse.
ICON: 9/10
âICONâ is one I will be blasting in my car and singing the chorus at the top of my lungs. Bopping to âDamn, I got it! Iâm iconic!â is such a confidence booster. There are some great vocals displayed in this song too.
CRUEL: 8/10
âCRUELâ is another bop, and some orchestral instruments in certain parts of the song give it a full sound. The airy vocals and strong bass is on full display. âCRUELâ reminds me of some 70s tracks, and for some reason makes me think it could be played in a casino or on the James Bond OST.
REAL YOU: 6/10
Another upbeat song, TWICE has not disappointed with songs that invoke retro instrumental patterns but also incorporate their sound. âREAL YOUâ falls perfectly into this category. Although, at this point in the album, the song is overshadowed by some stronger contenders that have the same feel and it just doesnât stand out.
F.I.L.A (Fall In Love Again): 5/10
The song starts with strings, choir, and a similar beat. For me, âF.I.L.Aâ like âREAL YOUâ fell between the cracks. It wasnât unique enough in melody or instrumentals to make me want to remember it.
LAST WALTZ: 7/10
âLAST WALTZâ has some darker elements compared to the other songs on the album. This also showcases some of TWICEâs rap as well as their airy soprano.
ESPRESSO: 5/10
âESPRESSOâ continues the tone that âLAST WALTZâ started. There are more minor keys involved in this one and electronic heavy instrumentals. The vocals are harsher and more rugged. The song didnât stick with me as one Iâd necessarily repeat or sing along to, but I can see it growing on me. For now, I probably wonât seek it out but I wonât skip it either.
REWIND: 7/10
âREWINDâ is vocal heavy and the instrumentals are just background support, which is delightful. This laid back song is a nice reprieve from the previous fast-paced tunes.
CACTUS: 9/10
âCACTUSâ has meaningful lyrics like, âOh, save me, oh, save me. I can’t be alone in this abandoned placeâ and âI have to hold onto you and make you look at me again, hurry up.â The melody is so heartfelt and the vocals are full of passion. This was a tearjerker for me before I even looked up the complete set of English lyrics. Itâs a must when listening to this album.
PUSH & PULL: 6/10
âPUSH & PULLâ unfortunately feels like the same upbeat, retro, beat heavy songs from the album. Because of that, it just doesnât stick out for me or make an impression. It is a fun song, for sure, but it doesnât feel unique.
HELLO: 8/10
With a different beat and more of a hip-hop groove, âHELLOâ is a confident track with plenty of rap and self-esteem boosting lyrics. Itâs not an overpowering song, but has a smooth feel. I would definitely seek out this song on the album.
1, 3, 2: 8/10
â1, 3, 2â has a unique vibe with instrumentals that I had yet to hear on the album. Itâs a relaxed song, but it is chalked full of strong lyrics, good rap, and a stand-out beat.
CANDY: 8/10
âCANDYâ is another all-English track on this album! This song truly is sweet and has some great falsetto lines in the chorus. I loved the vibe of this tune, with airy instrumentals and fun drum beats.
The Feels: 10/10
âThe Feelsâ came out as a single first, and I know exactly why. This song is so catchy! Itâs upbeat, showcases the membersâ strong points, continues the hit-making trend of TWICE, and has a crazy good rhythm. People have not stopped talking about this song and itâs been out for over a month. And at present, people are covering the dance every day on the Internet.
SCIENTIST- R3HAB Remix: 9/10
I normally donât like remixes as much as I do the original, but this remix is just as good…if not better! âSCIENTISTâ is really great to begin with, so recreating it in any way would probably be good. It feels like the remix is faster than the original and I prefer it!
FINAL: 7.5/10
TWICE spared no expense with this sixteen track album! There is something for everyone. My only flaw with it is that too many of the songs sounded the same. I wish there was a little more variety in the beat, instrumentals, and even melodies. However, if that retro vibe is your thing, this album will be a complete hit for you!

Seven-member dance and vocal group BE:FIRST formed on the hit Japanese TV audition show âTHE FIRSTâ. Now, their November 3 debut single âGifted.â has crashed into the Hot Trending Songs chart on Billboard US, taking the No.2 spot in the 24-hour chart on November 15, and No.5 in the seven days to November 15.
Launched on October 22, Billboardâs new Hot Trending Songs chart is powered by Twitter and sponsored by Remy Martin. The chart tracks global music trends and conversations on Twitter in real time, with rankings for the last 24 hours and the last seven days. A weekly version of the chart covers the period from Friday to Thursday and is published the following Tuesday, along with other rankings from Billboard. The chart includes anything from new releases to songs included at award shows, festival highlights and even nostalgic hits from the past; it is unique in that it is based not on the number of sales or plays of a song, but the amount it is being talked about â a true barometer of buzz.
âGifted.â also took the No.1 spot on Billboard Japanâs comprehensive Japan Hot 100 song chart in the week November 1-7. In yet more achievements, the song placed in 40 different charts, and made BE:FIRST the third-most streamed artist in a single week in Japanese history.
Meanwhile, the music video for âGIFTED.â became the No.1 ranked music video on YouTubeâs Trending Music chart when it was released on November 1. Even now, two weeks later, it is still No.1 on YouTubeâs Top 100 Songs Japan chart.
âGifted.â music video:
All in all, BE:FIRST have made a spectacular debut. Each of the groupâs seven members has demonstrated huge potential with their strong skills for singing, dance and rapping, along with a high musical ability that is reflected in their lyric writing, music composition and choreography â not to mention the appeal of each memberâs distinct personality. This is just the start, as BE:FIRST take their first steps into Asia and the rest of the world.

Ginger Root is an American indie-soul music project from Huntington Beach, California, led by singer-songwriter and instrumentalist Cameron Lew. In the studio, Ginger Root consists solely of Lew and its music is released under the label Acrophase Records.
Weâd like to express our thanks to Cameron Lew for taking his time out for an interview with us, and wish him the best in all his ventures.
Could you briefly introduce yourself to our readers?
Hello! My name is Cameron Lew, from Southern California, and I make music under the name âGinger Rootâ.
How did you choose your career in music and who influenced you to take this path?
I originally chose to go into the film industry as a career, but got super burnt out because of college. I found myself turning to music as an escape both during school and after graduating. I wasnât really expecting to turn music into a career, but slowly things started to pick up and only just recently decided to pursue it full time!
Tell us about the meaning behind Ginger Root and how you came up with it.
I created Ginger Root whilst in a different band. I wanted a change of pace from the stuff I was writing at that time, and needed a name for the project. I was watching this live video of âVulfpeckâ and the frontman Jack Stratton went on this huge rant about ginger root in the middle of a song, and being that it was 3am when I was watching the video, I thought it was the funniest thing ever. That whole week, his rant never left my mind, so when it came time to pick a name for this new music I was writing, I could only think of âGinger Rootâ.
How would you describe your music in one word?
Granular.
Who is the biggest influence in your life and music, and why?
Probably Michelle Zauner of Japanese Breakfast. I really admire her passion and drive to use her music to reach other ends of the creative world. Composing music for video games, directing music videos, writing a frickin New York Times best-seller memoir, etc.
When is the best time of the day to get creative for you?
Definitely night time.
How has the year 2021 been for you, and tell us about some of your most memorable experiences this year.
A whole lot better than 2020 I can tell you that haha. Iâm super excited to have been able to play live music to real people again. Iâm not a huge numbers guy, but the music video for âLorettaâ passed 3 million views which is absolutely insane. (Thank you Youtube algorithm). Other than music stuff, Iâve also been trying to learn both Toisan (a village dialect of Cantonese that my family speaks) as well as Japanese. Thatâs been super difficult but super rewarding.
Are there any artists that youâd like to work with in the future?
Japanese Breakfast, Kero Kero Bonito, and Toro Y Moi are always on my dream collab list. I would also love to work with Taeko Onuki or Haruomi Hosono, but thatâs a huuuuuuuge stretch. I can dream.
Tell us one thing that people donât know about you.
Iâm a black belt in Wushu. (Havenât done it since like middle school but I was at one point haha)
What do you like to do in your free time?
Practicing/Studying Toisan and Japanese has occupied a lot of my free time haha.
Tell us about your goals and wishes for the future. And please add a nice comment for the fans as well.
Iâm just super grateful that people are listening to my music! I still canât believe it to be honest. Hope to continue making music for a long time! Thank you all!
-J.Chung.

LOS ANGELES and TOKYO, November 15, 2021 — Shinichi Osawa, a world-renowned musician, composer, and producer best known under his stage name Mondo Grosso, and KLKTN, a curated platform connecting artists with fans, today unveiled “SMPLR,” an NFT audio stem player. The project is part of a series of collectible artworks combining music and visual art. The digital collectibles serve as a companion to the newly-released album “Mondo Grosso Official Best,” and are available for purchase at KLKTN.com.
The “SMPLR” NFT audio stem player was developed by KLKTN’s engineers as an interactive experience, which is reminiscent of the sample-based drum machines heavily used in the 1990s era of music production. The first track being released on KLKTN’s stem player is Mondo Grosso’s “Everything Needs Love feat. BoA.” Fans can deconstruct and reinterpret the song, gain a deeper understanding of its composition and arrangement, and experiment with its sounds in a collectible format.
In addition, each sound is paired with a special edition piece of visual art. Collecting all pieces completes the song and unlocks the full stem player experience, which was designed with a focus on ease of access, affordability, and seamlessness. The launch also collectible album artwork, as KLKTN brings the concept of liner notes back for a new generation of collectors, merging legacy and innovation.
The initiative allows fans to immerse themselves in Shinichi Osawa’s creative universe at a key moment for the prolific musician: Mondo Grosso’s 30th anniversary. Since his debut on the international acid jazz scene, Osawa has released six albums as Mondo Grosso, and has composed, arranged, performed, and produced hundreds of works under his eponymous solo project. His body of work spans jazz, R&B, new wave, electro house, and experimental music, as well as television and film scores.
“In celebration of Mondo Grosso’s 30th anniversary album, I wanted to create a new kind of experience for my fans, and KLKTN has been the perfect partner,” said Shinichi Osawa. “The experience starts with a best-of album that is forward-looking, featuring remixes, updates, edits, and remasters, and it continues with an entire world of sound and visuals that invite active interpretation and interaction.”
“We are proud to team up with Shinichi Osawa, a pioneering artist of incredible range, ambition, and impact, for the launch of KLKTN’s SMPLR player,” said Jeff Miyahara, chief creative officer of KLKTN. “This is a major milestone not only for our company but also for the industry at large: an opportunity to democratize music through NFTs, to unleash a new era in creativity and fandom, and to chart new possibilities for artists around the world.”
Most recently, KLKTN collaborated with global pop star Kimbra, a two-time GRAMMY Award-winning artist; Kevin Woo, a Korean-American singer-songwriter; and Miyavi, a Japanese rock guitarist, singer-songwriter, and producer. Media assets for KLKTN’s project with Shinichi Osawa are available for download here. New artworks will continue to be released in the coming weeks exclusively on KLKTN.

Korean clothing and general fashion statement have caught the attention of almost everyone all over the world. Today, with its very own annual Seoul Fashion Week, Korea has now aligned itself with major fashion cities like Milan and Paris. It has now grown into a prominent industry in the fashion market after 40 years of existence. The Korean fashion scene has witnessed significant growth and increasing popularity thanks to the trending wave that is currently sweeping the globe, with K-Pop musicians and K-Drama actors and actresses being on the frontline.
This popularity has resulted in style imitation, and many people have been attracted to Korean fashion, often deriving inspiration from K-Drama actors and K-Pop artists. That being said, replicating this Korean fashion trend, particularly for men, may appear simple, but in actual fact, it demands a great deal of effort to be as fashionable as them.
With a mixture of accessories, layers, whimsical designs, and an overall sleek lookâit is very understandable why men across the globe are looking into Korean fashion for inspiration. While dressing like a Korean man might not be easy, it does not require you to go overboard with your overall combination. You can always look stunning with a few pieces of clothing and learn how to mix and match the clothes in your closet.
Level up your fashion standard with these popular Korean outfits for men.
1. Dressing Down Outfit
Dressing down is a current and future trend in Korea. It is here to stay. Dressing down is most commonly seen with a collared shirt or blazer (jacket) placed on top of a basic t-shirt. While it appears that t-shirts and oversized collared shirts or blazers isn’t an excellent combination, they frequently look terrific!
In most cases, this outfit looks great with a white t-shirt, as they turn to be the easiest to match with black blazers and shirts.
2. Vest With Undershirt
This outfit is one of the most trending outfits now, and it has captured the attention of many. It comprises a pair of dark-colored full-length pants and a cotton vest with a slightly larger, contrasting t-shirt underneath.
Because it’s easy to accessorize, black and white is an excellent color combination for this outfit. Also, almost everyone has at least one pair of black, white, or white and black shoes. Furthermore, most bags, masks, and caps will be black or white in color. Of course, you can wear this outfit in other contrasting colors as well; just be careful when combining accessories.
3. Oversized Shirts and Jackets
From jackets to shirts to sweaters, oversized clothes are a trend dating from the â90s grunge era. Though it has not gone away completely from the local K-fashion scene, it has lost its popularity over the years. Nonetheless, this outfit has resurfaced, and it has rapidly marked its place amongst the most popular K-fashion trends.
Balance and proportionality are important features of this outfit. Oversized clothing drowns its wearer in fabric, so knowing how to appropriately style it in the context of your body and size is vital.
4. Suits
This outfit oozes confidence, refinement, and class along with a very handsome look. This outfit is most suited to neutrals, like blacks and whites; however, there is always room to experiment by trying out bolder or brighter colors. Whether you go all out with the colors or keep it subtle, this outfit is absolutely stunning.
5. Leather Jackets
Leather jackets have long been regarded as a classic and timeless piece that every man should own. They are fashionable fall/winter outfits that any man of any age can wear. Apart from this, it’s a trademark for the bad boy look that’s popular among K-Drama stars.
Because leather jackets are already eye-catching outfits, wear them over a white shirt and match them with black or blue denim jeans and boots.
Bottom Line
Although itâs challenging to list all the popular Korean outfits for men in this article, hereâs a list of the top five that have been trending this year. If you want to pull together any outfits listed above yourself, know that not everything has to be the same. You can change up the colors and designs to fit your personality!
We hope this was helpful. Stay tuned for more insightful content about Korean fashion.

Comment from Shinichi Osawa
âRather than just a collection of old songs, please consider this a new kind of best-of album, with new remixes, updated mixes, edits and remasters that show these songs at their very best.â
The album also includes âEverything Needs Love feat. BoAâ, which was originally released in 2002, when diva singer BoA was just 15 years old. Now, 19 years later, a new version featuring a brand-new Japanese-language vocal performance from BoA is included on the album, while a video has also been released.
âEverything Needs Love feat. BoA (RE-NEW JP)â
The gorgeous video, which pays homage to 1980s Japanese animation, was created by Los Angeles-based animation artist Ben Lam and produced by Jordan Freda, who has worked on music videos for Katy Perry as well as commercials for Nike, BMW and Mercedes Benz, and even visual effects for âThe Amazing Spider-Manâ.
In these times when even a simple hug is complicated, the new Japanese lyrics on âEverything Needs Love feat. BoA (RE-NEW JP)â look back on the dancefloors of the past and express a new hope for the future. As the lyrics say, letâs look inside ourselves for the loudness we crave!

The Soul Connection; an eminent underground hip-hop crew, alumni was initially contacted by TS Entertainment on grounds of joining the Untouchable duo band. Yongguk had worked with notable artists including those of B2ST and Secret bands. The resultant songs became a hit, especially âGoing Crazyâ, which topped Gaon Digital and Streaming Chart and the Gaon Music Chart thus crediting Yongguk a massive following. As a result, fans requested for Yonggukâs broadcast appearances which TS agency declined on grounds that he was still a trainee. Yongguk served as B.A.Pâs leader and main rapper. Young-jae
Yoo Young-jae realized his singing aptitude in a talent show with his friends in his middle schoolâs second year period. This saw Young-jae enroll in a music school the ensuing year to advance his music proficiency. Throughout high school, Young-jae auditioned with various music agencies before landing a trainee position under JYP Entertainment. Despite being scheduled to debut in one of the agencyâs band, Young-jae left the company after a year owing to personal reasons. Shortly after, he became a trainee with TS Entertainment and was revealed as B.A.Pâs member in January 18th before the groupâs January 26th 2012 official debut. Young-jae became B.A.Pâs main vocalist
Dae-hyun
Jung Dae-hyunâs dream of becoming a singer was birthed in his middle school years where his singing abilityâs confidence was gradually built by frequent karaoke sessions. Given Dae-hyunâs needing family financial background then, an arts high school was out of question. So as to fulfil his singing dreams, Dae-hyun resulted to working on his grades to secure a place in a high school that offered music program; where he was accepted. During his high school session, Dae-hyun practice b-boying and vocals with peers and also joined a youth club known for uploading its practice video online. The talented youngster later auditioned with TS Entertainment and trained for about six months before being revealed as B.A.Pâs member in January 16th 2012. Dae-hyun became B.A.Pâs main vocalist.

He then joined Hanlim Multi Art schools where he furthered his dancing and b-boying skills. Jongup became a trainee of TS Entertainment since his first year of high school and was eventually revealed as a member of B.A.P in January 17th, days before the band officially debuted in January 26, 2012. After a short talk session welcoming InSomnia (official fandom name), Dreamcatcher showed fans the beauty of an online concert with XR stage performances of their latest releases âBEcauseâ and âWhistleâ.
While âBEcauseâ took the fans to a creepy entrance into the world of Dreamcatcher and their midnight circus theme, âWhistleâ took a slightly different approach, giving the fans a little taste of everything in Dreamcatcherâs diverse discography. Like the stars they are, the latter songâ¨enveloped the seven girls in a universe setting, as enchanting as the girls and their twinkling embodiment of mystery and charm.
With the series of chart-topping hit song performances, Dreamcatcher switched it up for a session of ballads, soft to the ears and comforting for the heart. âPolarisâ followed by âA HEART OF SUNFLOWERâ and âEmotionâ saw all seven members taking a seat to sing the beautiful tunes.
After the ballads, the girls returned with a medley of some of their top major non-title tracks, âEclipse (Korean version)â, âFull Moonâ and âWind Blowsâ.
Nothing makes the concert a midnight circus more than all the special stages the girls have prepared for the Halloween event with solo performances of cover songs wearing their selected Halloween costumes.
SU A kicked off the series of solo performances with her fantastic cover of KAIâs âMmmhâ wearing a costume reminiscent of a historical figure statue, followed by the cute Ratatouille chef DAMI and her performance of ZICOâs âArtistâ.
GAHYEON continued the fun solo stages with her cover of IUâs âTwenty-threeâ in a Cinderella outfit that only she could pull off with the ease and grace of a princess. YOOHYEON then spun things around with a costume from the popular Netflix show Squid Game, all while performing BLACKPINK Roseâs song âOn The Groundâ with vocals that left fans stunned.
The surprises didnât end there, as fans were blessed with JI U in her black swan costume, looking dangerous and gorgeous as she sang BLACKPINK Jennieâs âSoloâ. The homage to solo artists continued with HANDONG appearing as Catwoman and taking over the stage with CHUNG HAâs âSnappingâ. SIYEON finished the solo stages with her rendition of SUNMIâsâ¨âpporappippamâ wearing a costume from the famous anime Full Moon. All seven of them performed together in their Halloween costumes for âAlldaylongâ.
With another XR stage performance of âSAHARAâ, this time in a setting that took fans and the group to an abandoned amusement park, Dreamcatcher showed off their bandana choreography and took everyone back in time for a thrilling ride with a performance all about vocals.
Performing âRed Sunâ, âBlack Or Whiteâ, âPIRIâ, âYOU AND Iâ and âChase Meâ, the seven girls made every moment with their fans count. From facial expressions to hand choreography and the perfectly hit notes for every song, Dreamcatcher turned the circus theme into a night every attendee would remember.â¨Finishing the night with âTensionâ, they wrapped up with a fun high note. Itâs been about seven to eight months since their last online concert though, and fans were not ready to let it end. With endless cheers from over 10,000 fans in the chat room for an encore, Dreamcatcher came back on stage with two more songs.
Fans were happy to see and hear âAirplaneâ and âNew Daysâ live for the encore. Symbolic of the bond Dreamcatcher has with everyone around them, their fans and all the staff, the seven members jammed freely with the live band and back dancers, just enjoying performing for their fans together with everyone.
As the concert officially saw its end, the girls sent their thanks and love to their fans, getting into a group hug before they slowly walked off stage as they waved goodbye.
Although the live broadcast of Dreamcatcherâs fourth online concert and their last official one for this year is over, thereâs much more in store for the girl group as they continue to climb the charts.

CL has a long history in the Korean music industry. Part of former girl group 2NE1 and now a solo artist, CL is here to prove why she is a force to be reckoned with. Her debut solo album, âALPHA,â does just that. From her classic sound to some surprising melodic choices, her vocals and trademark rap are on full display.
SPICY: 7/10
âDo you have that sauce that is spicy? Made in Korea?â Um, yes she does! CL is back with an incredible album opener. With her gritty swag, CL reminds us why she is such a household name. With a chorus anthem like, âShe got the sauce//And it’s spicy//You looking at the most fly Asiansâ itâs no wonder âSPICYâ has made its way to so many hot track playlists. From the catchy lyrics to a mix of R&B and EDM, this song is a bop.
Lover Like Me: 9/10
âLover Like Meâ showcases CLâs vocals. A softer song compared to âSPICYâ but no less impactful. This song has a lo-fi vibe but still includes plenty of synth and a good amount of snare. This is tied for my favorite song on the entire album and it is worth listening to again and again.
Chuck: 3/10
After âLover Like Me,â âChuckâ feels rugged, edgy, and less artistic. I personally didnât enjoy this one as it felt a little too repetitive. This would serve as a good track to play in the background at a dance party or an event that requires a bit of a dark alley vibe. However, for everyday listening, it likely wouldnât end up on my rotation.
Xai: 6/10
âXaiâ is back on track with a similar vibe to âLover Like Me.â Itâs calming and easy to listen to while working or doing an alternate task. I prefer the lyrics and melody in âLover Like Meâ but I like the feel of both songs equally.
Let It: 7/10
âLet Itâ has a strong piano melody throughout, which was a pleasant surprise. With sweet vocals and an upbeat tune, âLet Itâ is a perfect reprieve from some of the trap and grunge feel of the album. CL still has her classic rap style featured, but it is a subtle compliment to an otherwise vocal driven song.
Tie a Cherry: 6/10
With lyrics like âBeen around long enough to know what I likeâ and âPretty views of me, myself and I,â this song is a confidence builder. With trap influence and an electric feel, itâs not as much of a hype feel as youâd expect but with the relaxed vibe, it makes the lyrical message more powerful. CLâs rap is the star in this song, too, and I was here for it.
Paradise: 2/10
âParadiseâ is trap and electronic heavy. CL uses auto-tune quite a bit in this one as well. I found the song to be generic and not unique enough to really stand out on the album or make it to my liked songs on Spotify. It does gel well with the album as a whole but isnât memorable.
My Way: 7/10
âGonna do it my way anywayâ is the first line in this song and more power to her! CL is not one to play with and this song has those âthugâ vibes that CL is famous for. âMy Wayâ is a great hype song and sticks out on the album as one of the more anthem-esc tracks.
Siren: 8/10
âSirenâ is an all-English ballad. This song proves CLâs vocal prowess. With symphonic undertones as she sings âWhoâs gonna love you like that,â this melody is memorable and a strong addition to the album. âSirenâ proves that CL is not just able to conquer the Korean audience, but the English-speaking world as well. This is the perfect track for someone who might not be into some of her edgier songs but still appreciates her artistry.
HWA: 9/10
âHWAâ was previously released as a single and is personally my favorite song from CL. It displays some of the best melodic repetitions on the album. CLâs confident rap, stable vocals, and captivating lyrics make âHWAâ the best song on this album.
5 STAR: 8/10
â5 STARâ displays the vocal range of CL in this romantic song. I can easily imagine this in a movie soundtrack; it is a sweet yet strong melody. Lyrics include words like: Youâre my ocean, Iâm your star. I canât stop thinking about you. 5 Stars every time you come through.
FINAL SCORE: 6.5/10
Though âALPHAâ had some great songs, it also included some melodies that were forgettable. Overall, this is a solid entry for CL as a soloist and Iâm proud of all the hard work she put into this album.

As a newcomer, she has achieved an exceptional achievement.

ââAKINA – FUTUREâ Music Video
This work is AKINA’s first all-Japanese lyrics, and her sweet singing voice and the chill sound created by Kai Takahashi match perfectly that makes the listeners feel more positive.
Comment from AKINA:
ăFUTURE means to me self-reflection and freedom. With all the time spent at home the past couple of years, itâs caused me to feel like Iâve lost purpose at times. But those dark times are necessary for a change and I think this song shows that itâs okay to struggle as long as you try to find your way back again!.ă – Akina
Comment from Kai Takahashi:
ăThis is an ambitious all Japanese lyric song that I made for Akina who was born in California. I wrote it in the midst of the early days of Corona just a year ago and her husky and powerful singing voice matched the positive lyrics. The moment I heard her singing voice I felt that the scale of this song just got bigger. I think it will be difficult for her to balance her group and solo activities but I am looking forward to the success of both AKINA as a member of FAKY and as a solo artist!ă
– Kai Takahashi

Fashion is a common language that gets the attention of everyone around the world. This is because everyone loves to be fashionable and make a style statement of their own.
Korean general fashion statement is often regarded as one of the best in the world. With a mixture of accessories, cutesy designs, layers, and an overall sleek lookâKorean fashion is becoming more popular as days go by. It is indubitably one of the most prominent players in fashion, entertainment, music, and many other aspects of consumer culture.
Korea, a thriving hub of creative innovation, has repeatedly demonstrated its global impact, a force that has only recently gained momentum and will keep growing stronger. So, it is quite understandable why Korean youths love being fashionistas.
The driving force behind Korea’s infinite cultural power and impact is the country’s enthusiastic generation of youths who are hungry for the next big thing and ready to create and consume indefinitely.
Looking ahead to 2022, weâve dug deep into the common Korean fashion trends that are currently dominating the youth culture.
1. Baggy Trousers
If they had asked us ten years ago to put on a pair of pants that weren’t skin-tight, we would have rolled our eyes in despair. Yes, you read that right. We gave leggings and skinny jeans our complete attention that we couldnât imagine ourselves in baggies. That was, until one day, baggies made a grand return, saving us from another year of wearing uncomfortable pants.
Baggy pants have been on the rise for a while, but it wasn’t until last fall when they started appearing on every street style photographer-covered corner in Seoul, London, New York, Paris, and Milan that the trend became undeniable.
Consequently, Korean fashion designers turn to the perfect bottom silhouette that prioritizes cosiness and comfort. And today, stylish youth pair them with big chunky trainers or monochrome sweaters since they are the focal points of each look.
2. Neon Fashionable clothes
If there is one thing that Korean fashion is known for, it’s color. The predominant color this year is neon. While it is not a new trend, it is clear that neon has made a much-needed reappearance in the wardrobes of South Korean locals and celebrities.
In a country where fostering self-identity through eye-catching aesthetics is a major concern, it’s no surprise that neon has made its way into the Korean fashion scene. This iconic color, which represents innovation and uniqueness among Gen Z, has ignited a revolutionary fashion fad among youths.
3. Face Mask
We canât talk about fashion trends changing youth culture without making mention of face masks. Masks have become very popular recently. While being worn for practical reasons, some brands are attempting to make this new mandatory item of clothing stylish.
Although many people are seen wearing normal surgical masks, some brands have gone into producing fashionable masks. These brands are very common in Korea, and they produce stylish and comfortable masks that go with any clothing.
4. Chunky Shoes
For the past few years, chunky shoes (turbo trainers) are a trend that has been massive in Korea. Theyâve become more experimental in color and shape, making them the top shoes of choice, especially by millennials.
Not only are they effortless to match with any outfit, but chunky shoes are excellent in boosting your height. Irrespective of what attire you seek to put on, a simple pair of turbo trainers can pull your entire outfit together.
The versatility and timeless chicness of the chunky shoe trend makes them so appealing. You can wear your turbo trainers with an oversized blazer, a midi dress, or even just a pair of jeans and a shirt. On the other hand, if your style leans towards streetwear, buying a massive sneaker with outrageous laces and embellishments might catch your attention and set you apart from everyone.
5. Blazers
Blazers always make a presence on the runway, no matter the season. A well-designed blazer can add a touch of practicality and elegance to any dress beneath. As such, South Korean fashionistas have begun layering blazers over everything from evening gowns to casual clothes, and the results are absolutely breath-taking.
Tailored blazers are a welcome solution to achieving beautiful yet modest outfits as casualization infiltrates the Korean high fashion scene.
If you’re weary of wearing worn checkered outerwear, you should try a stylish blazer. It will completely transform your look.
Bottom Line
With Korean fashion spreading across the globe, looking to Korea for future fashion trends is becoming increasingly recurrent. The Korean fashion scene has influenced the global industry, spawning notable clothing trends inspired by Korean high fashion and music videos.
They offer an unbelievable mix of establishing and emerging fashion brands, which give you many opportunities to dress your best at all times.

Seugli is a legend who has become a household name in the collaboration world. Six years down her debut lane under the Red Velvet girl group, Seugli has stood out as a highly skilled vocalist endowed with dynamic discography abilities making her a powerhouse performer. Her collaborations with artists in Korea and beyond, including the large number of potential notable artists hoping to team up with her in a project, demonstrates Seugliâs capabilities and aptitude. Here are some of Seugliâs distinguished collaborations of all time.
Selfish (Moonbyul ft. Seugli)
The collabo queen, Seugli, helped skyrocket Moonbyulâs solo career (an addition to her being a Mamamoo group member and its lead rapper). âSelfishâ was Moonbyulâs first solo debut track that articulately showcased her sultry vocals and astounding rapping skills. The summer single engrossed in a soft melody blends perfectly with Seugliâs refreshing chorus into an addictive tune that credited the track an immense reception.
Butterfly (Seugli ft. Henry Lau)
Known mostly for her collaborations with female artists, Seugli showcased her gender diversity in a team up with Henry Lau for the âButterflyâ hit song. Henry Lau is quite eminent as a member of the Chinese-Korean Super Junior M boy band. The gifted duo released the track from Henryâs second EP Fantastic way back in 2014 two months before Seugli debuted as a Red Velvet member. The hit has amassed a huge fan base evident in the various translations of its lyrics in numerous languages.
Wow Thing (Seugli ft. Chungha, Soyeon and SinB)
The mega collaboration between Seugli and I.O.Iâs Chungha alongside (G) I-DLEâs Soyeon and GFriendâs SinB resulted in an explosion of a noteworthy masterpiece. The addictive retro is a blend of the artists uniquely different vocals coupled up with commanding choreography and captivating rhythm that keeps the fans hooked.
Heart Stop (Taemin ft. Seugli)
The collaboration with the fellow SM Entertainment label mate and K-Pop legend SHINeeâs Taemin created a frenzy rippling effect of craze among fans. The melodramatic single in Taeminâs second album MOVE, is a story highlighting a coupleâs shared true feelings for each other on the onset of a break up brewing emotions in fans. The duet perfectly blend their vocals to the reminiscent lyrics wreaking havoc in the feelings of fans crediting the hit an immense reception.
Be Mine (Seugli ft. Yoojung, Chungha, MOMO and SinB)
This 2016 KBS Song Festival performance was off the hook as Seugli teamed up with the equally talented I.O.Iâs Chungha and Yoojung, TWICEâs MOMO and GFriendâs SinB in INITINITEâs âBe Mineâ cover. The stage was crammed with top notch choreography with each artists showcasing their dancing aptitude besides the iconic vocals. The energetic performance created waves during the festival and beyond making the collaboration amongst the finest and most captivating in the K-Pop industry.
Drop (Seugli ft. Mark Lee)
The hit âDropâ was an explosion as K-Pop titans, Seugli and Mark; a Canadian NCT and SuperM groups member, teamed up for a collaboration. âDropâ was an original hit performed in the final stages of Markâs High School Rapper survival hip hop reality TV show back in January 2017. The single was ranked 7th overall in the MNET TV show and has gained massive following and views since then. Its eminence roots from the deeply endowed vocals that flow with the lyrics and perfectly blend with the rhythm.
Heroine (Seugli ft. Sunmi and Daehwi)
The trio; Seugli, former Wonder Girlâs turned soloist Sunmi and WANNA ONEâs Daehwi, teamed up to offer the fans a catchy track. The single starts off with an energetic note from Sunmi and Seugli who mirror each otherâs image on stage. The equally powerful duoâs presentation is further heightened as the talented Daehwi joins in fashioning an uncomprehendably endowed trio performance.
Darling U (Seugli ft. Yesung)
The charming teamwork between Super Juniorâs Yesung and Seugli produced nothing less of a masterpiece. The resulting âDarling Uâ single was composed by Yesung with lyrical penning assistance from his fellow group mate Eunhyuk. The pop single of medium tempo under innocent love theme illustrates a man and womanâs shy love and their endeavor to reveal their feeling to one another. The sweet melody confirms the duoâs worthiness of their member groupsâ main vocalist roles as the âDarling Uâ duetâs quality is beyond amazing.
Hello Tutorial (Seugli ft. Zion.T)
Seugli yet again displayed her collaboration specialty by teaming up with Korean R&B idol Zion.T for the âHello Tutorialâ track. Under Zion.Tâs Zzz EP, the piano-backed single with a sense of jazz harmoniously fuses Seugliâs sweet and soft vocals to his raspy tone into a masterpiece flare-up. The falling in love theme is perfectly elaborated in the lyrics with romance heightened by the rhythmic melody and vocals.
Our Story (Seugli ft. Hwang Chi Yeol)
In his âFall, in Girl Vol.3â project, Hwang Chi Yeol collaborated with Seugli to offer the fans a memorable tune, âOur Storyâ. The relationship issues themed single demonstrates the emotional concerns bound to surface in a relationship in comparison to the true feelings ingrained in the involved individuals. The medium tempo hit craftily weaves Seugli soft vocals with some background rapping by Hwang Chi that bursts into an emotional addictive tune with lyrics that trigger thoughts on oneâs relationship status and related actionâs impacts.

South Koreaâs most prominent rock bands Crying Nut, Dickpunks, HarryBigButton, JAMBINAI, Walking After U, Bluepaprika, Animal Divers, Rock N Roll Radio, Oh Chill and Duoxini have teamed up for a new studio live album, and is now available.
Wumuji Studio Live Vol.1 contains 11 tracks performed live by 11 bands selected by the audience and the #saveourstages campaign team among the 67 teams that participated in the campaign performance.
Wumuji is an abbreviation for Protect Our Stage, in Korean.
These indie bands came together in hope to bring awareness of the hardships the artists are currently going through since many independent music venues shut down due to the pandemic.
These issues wonât be easily solved at once, but the important thing is to reach out and support these indie artists in order to preserve the community of indie-music centered on independent music venues.
We did an interview with Blue Paprika back in 2015, if anyone is interested in checking it out, please do: https://www.kcrush.com/a-kcrush-interview-with-the-talented-korean-indie-band-blue-paprika/
You can watch all the live performances of Wumuji Studio Live vol.1 here:

The Asian community has been quite lacking in terms of red carpet appearances for the longest time. The rather conservative peninsula has slowly been opening up to the world while using the opportunity to share its intricate cultures. 2021 has seen the biggest number of artists with Asian roots take the Met Galaâs red carpet by storm. The term artist, in this case, generally refers to one who creates art by use of creative imagination or conscious skill. Below are some of the Asian artists who showed up for the 2021 Met Galaâs red carpet.
1. CL
The legendary K-Pop female rapper made a stunning appearance on the red carpet wearing Alexander Wang, a piece that took the denim look a notch higher. The hanbok-enthused silhouette off-shoulder denim coat was a reminiscent of the traditional Korean hanbok owing to its design and signature knot; with two long straps, on the dresses top portion. The Korean ambience was accentuated by CLâs unique hairstyle enthused by a traditional Korean headpiece that used to be worn by individuals of influence, mostly queens.
2. Eva Chen
The fashionable Eva made yet another triumph at her lifelong career of making heads turn with her styles. Eva showed up at the Met Gala in Christopher John Rogersâs flamboyant block gown. The low off-shoulder frock of many colors elegantly displayed the divaâs collar bones, which were accentuated by the sleek short hair do. The bold and warm colored gown with a substantive satin organza train was heightened by the contrasting checkered opera gloves.
3. Naomi Osaka
The tennis legend represented her multicultural Haitian-Japanese-American heritage at the Met Gala in Luis Vuitton. Created by a collaboration of Naomiâs sister Mari and Luis Vuittonâs Nicholas Ghesquire, the divine outfit comprised a blend of Japanese-inspired clothing and koi fish graphic print. The light strapped black covers of dripping layers complemented the chic dress with the obi-enthused belt signature completing the look. The unique hairdo and modern Japanese âGeisha makeupâ added up to Osakaâs overall multicultural statement.
4. Rose
Blackpink girl bandâs Rose crushed her Met Gala debut in Yves Saint Laurent. The K-Pop diva rocked in a classic black mini dress accentuated by a creative bow rapping around her bust. The contrasting black and white colored gear, which flaunted the divaâs curves, brought out Roseâs striking Asian pale white skin color. The complementing black heels further accentuated Roseâs long legs resulting in the overall simple yet perfect K-Pop idol look.
5. Saweetie
The Filipino-African-American hit maker made quite an appearance in a gown representing her deeply diversified heritage. The Christian Cowan elegant red gown; caressing the artistâs body into an art piece, turned heads as the diva gracefully rocked the red carpet. The gown contained countless hand-placed crystals and a train whose theme colors root from the Filipino and African-American flags thus representing Saweetieâs heritage.
6. Evan Mock
The Gossip Girl actor of Filipino-American descent paraded his tattooed thighs at the Met Gala in Thom Brown. The most striking fashion statement by Evan was his full leather face mask adorned with metal spikes. The rock-star and metal theme flowed throughout his outfit with striking silver rings and a dark blue short suit; whose blazer rocked a ring of safety pins artistically woven around the arms and waistline.
7. Simu Liu
The actor; cast in the Legend of the Ten Rings among others, of Chinese descent showed up at the Met Gala in Fendi. Simu gracefully sported a white-on-white top look paired with a fitting slim black trouser and black shoes. The signature thin black outlines along the edges of the white shirt and double breasted jacket perfected the designâs elegance.
8. Olivia Rodrigo
The latest VMAâs Best New Artist award winner of Filipino-American decent stomped the Met Gala in Yves Saint Laurent. The all-black sheer lace outfit with a rock-enthused look got heads turning. The lace gave a see-through impression with the off-shoulder jumpsuitâs bust area covered in a fluffy black feathery piece while an inner black underclothing covered the essentials. The black open heels, silver ornaments, simple makeup with a light touch of lipstick, black finger and toe-dos, and a laid back hairdo complemented Oliviaâs all-black theme.
9. Sunisa Lee
Lee, a Laos-Korean-American 2020 Olympic Gold medal gymnasticsâ attended the MET Gala in an ethereal gold outfit whose overall theme was a tribute to her hard work towards winning gold in 2021 Tokyoâs Olympics. The two-piece outfit; with the top accentuated with gold baubles around the arm and collar, low gold open heels, gold hair band, and a complementing nail-do brought out the vibrant and glorious look.
10. Gemma Chan
Gemma an actress of Chinese descent, born in London, graced the 2021âs Met Gala in Prabal Gurung; a Nepalese-American designer. The black sequin short dress with silver pearls; running diagonally from one end of the bust to just below the hip and creatively adding some sense of Chinese-enthuse character to the outfit. The dress is completed by an attached pastel green train which gives the outfit a flawless chicness. The complementing black stilettos accentuated with silver studs, silver necklace and earrings, and silver rings perfects Gemmaâs overall elegance.

BTS members are widely known for their influential and hypnotizing lyrical pieces. However, these 7 beings have a life beyond music and its accompanying spotlight. It is through these outside-music ventures that the band members freely express their true self, vent out their emotions, showcase their authenticity and creativeness, relieve stress, and recharge to thrive in their demanding entertainment careers among others. Here are some of the interests by BTS membersâ outside music.
1. V
Regarded as the most artistic BTS member, V expresses himself through various art mediums which he shares with his ever growing fan base.
