ARMY are divided over a recent video from the South Korean military. The video specifically featured the 2nd Army Corps in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province where V is clearly seen in tactical gear and with weapons. Many would label this as pro-military propoganda.
Some ARMY commented how proud they were of V. “Captain Korea” and “V” trended on social media in a positive response to the video’s release. One ARMY commented, “Kim Taehyung is in the hardest unit in the military, having the highest IQ and athleticism needed for the job while wearing the coolest uniform. PROUD OF YOU CAPTAIN TAEHYUNG.”
However, soon the applause was disrupted by disgruntled fans. One fan wrote, “‘So proud of him’ and ‘he’s so cool’–it’s just military propoganda and forced conscription. Are y’all insane? What exactly are you proud of?”
Some called the video hypocrisy of BTS’ “love myself” campaign for UNICEF and their anti-violence speeches at the UN. However, others spoke up on behalf of the members, sharing some of the history of South Korea. Fans defended it as Korea is a nation that has been war-prone and the conscription is a way to keep their freedom. Additionally, BTS chose to enter the military though they were given exceptions due to their global stardom. They chose to go into the military service anyway.
